In case you missed this historic night, the Art of Rap Tour hit Chicago July 22nd 2017 at the Chicago Theater. The stage was lit with performances by DMX, Rakim, Ghostface Killah, Crucial Conflict, EPMD, KRS-One, and other respected hip-hop artists. Created by legendary rapper Ice T, the Art of Rap Tour allows Hip-Hop’s old school legends to return to the stage and journey through the history and art of hip-hop. Some of these revolutionary artist such Raekwon and Ghostface Killah are among the few of their decade that are still creating and releasing ingenious albums.
Many hip-hip pioneers came out to support including The legendary Ice Cube. Cube, originally in Chicago to premiere his Big3 basketball traveling circus league games stopped by. He even delivered an explosive performance with a classic verse from N.W.A “Straight Outta Compton”. As expected the audience was ebullient. Among fans and media were a few television stars such as Andre Royo (Thirsty Rawlings from Fox drama series Empire) who is clearly a hip-hop fan. This night brought out an incredible group of legends. It set the stage for an amazing platform for these legendary artist to continue to inspire and impact music today.
